My Top Ten "Top Ten" Lists

Top ten lists strike me as subjective origami. They come in many shapes and are interesting and nice to look at, but rarely are they useful. The choices inevitably say more about the claimant than it does about the material listed.

That being said, here is my list; albeit with a slight twist. Replacing the overdone top ten, I am listing my top ten, top ten.

These top tens are sure to challenge your intellect, change your understanding of the world, distract you for a minute, or none of the above.

Most likely, none of the above.

1. Top Ten Batman Villains - YES! Low hanging fruit, I know. Curiously, all directors of any Batman movie without the name, Christopher Nolan, were left off the list.

2. Top Ten Phobias (you may already have) - Number six on this list made me contemplate the future of our country; then I checked my text messages.

3. Top Ten Most Disgusting Delicacies - I did hesitate to list this one. Not for the faint of heart, but go ahead and look anyway.

4. Top Ten Inventions That Changed Our World - No disagreement here, except that given the 2013 date of this article, the arrival of 2015's Erica just missed the cut. Creepy Erica. Creepier Interview.

5. Top Ten Happiest Countries in the World - How is this a thing? Maybe these are just the top ten countries with the best liars.

6. Top Ten Strangest Self-Experiments Ever - There is a fine line between courage and stupidity, and many of these men seemed to have urinated on that line for the sake of what, I have no idea.

7. Top Ten Longest Novels - I pledge to give $100 to the first person to write a long form essay about novels 1-4. Ready. Set. Go!

8. Top Ten Best Pizza Places in the U.S. - My favorite food deserves a spot high on this last.

9. Top Ten Most Remote Places In the World - Count me in for each of these spots. I carry a strong fascination for remote places.

10. Top Ten Beatles Songs of All Time - I love the Beatles.
